Town/City Casino Prohibition Opt Out

How can I stop casinos in my community?

A law passed in 2025 allows a warrant question to be placed on the ballot for the next Annual Town Meeting or municipal election to stop casinos from establishing or expanding in cities/towns. (RSA 237-D:32)

In communities where casinos do not already exist: “Shall we prohibit the operation of games of chance within the town or city?”

In communities with existing casinos: “Shall we prohibit additional brick and mortar games of chance operations within the town or city?”

A petition to amend a zoning ordinance, historic district ordinance, or a building code shall be submitted to the board of selectmen or the village district commissioners during the period between 120 and 90 days prior to the annual town or village district meeting. (RSA 675:4)
